With the beginning of third tri comes goodbyes from early senior graduates and an excitement toward the future for the remaining seniors as they enter their last trimester of high school. Senioritis may be in full swing, but it is important to keep some things in mind as graduation approaches. To aid, here is a graduation checklist:
- Your counselor should have already met with you to check that you are on track to graduate; but if you are not sure, then schedule a meeting with them as soon as possible.
- If you intend on walking at graduation on June 1st at 1 p.m., make sure you have filled out and turned in your intent to walk form to the school.
- Also, make sure you have purchased a cap and gown from Jostens .
- If you plan on having a graduation party, which I highly recommend as it is the easiest way to get money to start off your college career, mail invitations three weeks prior to your party.
- It is always a good idea to make some money the summer before starting college, so start applying for jobs before or shortly after spring break so as to beat the rush.
- If you have committed to a college, make sure to stay updated on all financial requirements, forms and vaccinations from the school.
- Pick up your cap and gown from BHSS, students will be notified when they are ready.
- If you are a member of National Honor Society, make sure you have fulfilled all inside service hours, outside service hours and meeting requirements so you are able to wear an honor cord at graduation.
- Make sure all cameras and phones are charged for the day of graduation.
- Decide who you want to attend graduation, as seats are limited. Each student gets seven tickets to graduation, but you can usually buy tickets off of students who are not using all of theirs.
- Discuss with family and friends where to meet after the ceremony.
- Enjoy these last three months of high school. They are days you will never get back.
Congratulations, Class of 2019!
