The MCCSC Metrics Committee decided to keep schools in “phase yellow” until Oct. 12.
In the yellow phase, elementary schools are in person, while middle and high school have the option of hybrid or online. The “red phase” results in all online learning, and happens if there is a 10% positivity rate. The “green phase” would mean in-person school for five days a week, although there will still be the option for students to stay online.
The current percentage of positive cases for unique individuals in Monroe County has reached 7%, going down from 13% after more negative tests were confirmed.
Currently, there have been two confirmed Covid cases in the MCCSC system, at University Elementary School and Marlin Elementary School. Both students have been isolated and contact tracing has been done.
The committee will meet again Oct. 6 to re-evaluate.
