Traditionally, South students receive their yearbooks the autumn after the school year ends. This year, however, the distribution of yearbooks will be different. Students will receive their yearbooks from the 2021-2022 school year before the last day of school. The reason for the change is because the yearbook staff wants students to have a more exciting end of the school year by having seniors receive the yearbook before they graduate.
Due to the new time of distribution, the yearbook will not be able to cover prom, graduation, and the end of spring sports’ seasons. The yearbook will still have around 240 pages, but with this new deadline the yearbook editor feels more pressure. “I am stressed being the only editor in this process because I have less time to finish the yearbook, but it will be nice to not have to work on it over the summer since I am graduating,” said editor Chloe Stines.
Although this is a stressful time for the yearbook staff and student editor, seniors are very excited about this change. “Since I may be leaving in the summer for bootcamp, this is going to be awesome because I will be able to get the yearbook before I leave,” said senior Blaise Oeding. He believes that the senior class is going to appreciate this change and will enjoy looking at and signing the yearbooks together, before the seniors part their ways.
