Pride is not a sin at Bloomington’s ninth annual Pridefest!
Taking place Saturday, August 27, 2022, the festival will feature a vendor village, food trucks, wellness activities, and music performances. The Vendor Village will be open from 2-8 p.m. along South Kirkwood and N. Grant streets, and entertainment will run from 2-11 p.m. on the main stage at E. Kirkwood Ave & Washington streets.
Entertainment includes two drag shows, as well as performances by Indianapolis based singers Emma Peridot, Kool Breed, and DJ Duck Trash. There will also be a meet and greet with drag queens DiDa Ritz, a season four contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Saint, winner of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Resurrection. DJ Maddøg will perform at 9 p.m., who is, fun fact, Jay True’s daughter.
“It’s always been super fun,” senior Jack Davis said. He’s gone to Pridefest the past four years. “It’s always super energetic, super friendly, and there are always really cool shows.”
It’s not only about having fun, of course. From 1-6 p.m., education and wellness events will take place in the meeting rooms in the public library. This will involve HIV testing, administering Monkeypox vaccines, and a presentation by the newly opened Tandem Birth Center and Postpartum House.
Ranked by Thrillist as the best college town pride festival in the nation, this year’s Pridefest is bound to be an exciting and informative event as always.
