Over the summer, the construction of a new room inside the library began. As of now, the room remains empty and with poor internet signal, however, South has plans to continue renovating that room into a Career Center. As it stands, South recently received new chairs and tables for the entire library, including the Career Center. The only remaining feature South is planning to add are two glass doors on either side of the room to make it as quiet as possible.
Joanna Hahn, the BHSS librarian, said the purpose of the Career Center is relatively undecided. South made it clear that it had plans for that room last year, however now it seems it will be taking a similar role as the large group room.
South has made the Career Center’s top priority to be the new location for visiting colleges advertising to students. Because college visits will only be up until early winter and takes a small portion of the day, South will be using it on the occasion that a teacher is absent and a substitute cannot be found. Typically under these circumstances students would all be put into the library, now students can expect a quiet room with plenty of outlets and tables. Clubs will also be given the opportunity to sign up and use these rooms for club meetings or activities, before and after school.
