How did South students spend their summer? Outdoor excursions? Check. Resume building activities? Check. Fun-filled vacations? Check. Since school ended in May, South Panthers traversed the world, from participating in local camps to climbing mountains.
This past summer, junior Deacon Peterman and his father traveled to Colorado to conquer Mount Blue Sky. Peterman said “getting to the top [of the mountain],” would be a lifelong memory of his.
Other South students were more career-focused, with senior Lake Butiste helping at an environmental science camp. Butiste said, “I’m actually going to major in environmental sustainability…it was a good experience, kind of shadowing my major.”
Sophomore Kendal Brown traveled across the country to California. Brown’s itinerary was jam-packed with fun activities, Brown said, “I went to Huntington Beach, I went to LA…and then we went to Disneyland.” Although the highlight of Brown’s trip was when “we went to Dairy Queen…and we saw a bunch of fancy cars [lined up outside the Dairy Queen].” She said, “It was kind of weird [to see all of the fancy cars at Dairy Queen] but it was cool.”
Whether they took a vacation or stayed local, South Panthers found ways to stay busy.
