Bloomington South has announced a water boil advisory for the building on Thursday, October 24.
Though a boil advisory is only precautionary, the district health officials recommend that people don’t drink water from South unless it has been boiled. Circumstances such as leaks or water quality problems can result in a water boil advisory.
Assistant Principal Dustin Carver received a notice this morning about a leakage in the northeast parking lot and said that “it was spontaneous.” As a result, South’s coffee shop, “Scholarsips,” had been closed for the day and the school provided bottled water for all teachers, students, and staff. Regarding breakfast and lunch from our school cafeteria, Carver said that “the corporation did a great job of getting water over to our cooks for the cafeteria, which was great.”
While the boil advisory affected Bloomington South, there was no other building affected in the surrounding area.
For the next couple of days, South’s main office is going to be collecting water bottle caps from provided water bottles for recycling.
Carver said that South students and faculty can expect this issue to be resolved on Saturday, October 26.
