Eric Bodnar passed away last weekend, the weekend of March 8th. Bodnar was a longtime special education paraeducator at South. His assistance and impact on his students will be remembered and greatly missed by many.
“He really really cared, whether it was students or adults, he cared and listened,” Lacy Kantor, special education teacher and Unified Track coach, said.
Bodnar was very supportive of the Unified Track team and convinced several students to join. In addition to helping his students at school, he would often meet homebound students after school to help them with their studies as well.
Bodnar grew up in Bloomington and graduated from South. He often wore memorable sweaters to work. He enjoyed watching old and foreign movies, reading books, and discussing them with his fellow colleagues and students.
Sophomore Michael Kent, a student of Bodnar, said, “He actually was reading a book to us during second period when I was in here…it was amazing.”
