For years, South’s soccer field has been less of a field and more of a space to play soccer, but there’s more that should go into it than just a place to play the game.
Starting in a couple weeks, the school has decided to spend $1.6 million to give soccer teams a turf field for their games.
Junior soccer player Isabelle Sweet explained how she’s excited for the new field because it will help prevent injuries and will be better than having to trade off practicing on the baseball field with the boys’ team.
Another junior, Helena Cutshall, is also looking forward to the turf field and said that it makes the game flow more and the ball move faster.
Assistant Principal Dustin Carver said if the soccer teams go to state they’re used to a large turf field and it’ll be nice to have that at South.
The new turf field won’t just be used for soccer. South plans to use it for many more school activities in the future.
