Every spring, Bloomington South Dance Marathon hosts a school wide event in the interest of supporting patients at the Riley Children’s Hospital. At the Dance Marathon, students have opportunities to support the kids. From dancing to donating, to listening to patients share their stories, participants are able to spread hope.
Although Dance Marathon occurs annually in April, preparations for this event happen all year long to ensure its success. Smaller events, like volleyball tournaments, carnivals, and trick-or-treating are all ways that members of Dance Marathon raise money for Riley Hospital. In addition to activities, each club member selects a set amount of money to raise – which sometimes surpasses several thousands of dollars. Last year, Bloomington South Dance Marathon raised $87,897.59. This year, the organization plans to exceed their previous total, with a goal of $100,000 to celebrate 20 years of fundraising.
