The South boys swim team is heading to state this Friday and Saturday after a record setting sectional win last weekend. The boys left Columbus North with a record nine sectional titles, making it their third straight sectional win. Leading the way for the panthers was junior Max Grogg with sectional titles in the 100 and 200 freestyle.
Also contributing to South’s 496 point win over Columbus North was senior Matthew Jerden winning the butterfly and breaststroke, sophomore Seth Glasscock winning the 200 individual medley and backstroke, and junior Lucas Lobring winning the 500 free. The team also took home wins in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. South also received strong races from Gavin Loucks, Wes Webb, Creighton King, and Tommy Beggs to boost the team to a 46 point win over Columbus North.
The sendoff for state will be at 11 a.m. in the atrium on Friday and the boys will be heading up to Indianapolis, swimming in the IUPUI Natatorium.
