Panther Baseball studs Alex Franklin and Tyler Van Pelt have both committed to Indiana University to play baseball. South Optimist recently caught up with the star Pitcher and Center Fielder and asked them a couple of questions regarding their decision.
Why did you choose IU?
TVP: “I chose IU because I knew I wanted to play Big Ten Baseball, and they have great facilities, I like coach Lemonis a lot, and also, IU is a very good school academically as well.”
AF: “Tyler said everything I was going to say.”
Did you look at other schools?
TVP: “I was looking at Eastern Kentucky University, Darmouth, and Virginia Tech.”
AF: “That’s a hard question. I knew from the start I wanted to play at IU, so I did not really look at other schools.”
Are you excited to eventually play together at IU?
TVP: “Actually no, I was kind of hoping that Alex would decommit.”
AF: ” No, I hate Tyler. I was really hoping that he would go somewhere else.”
Tyler and Alex have been having a great season this year as Tyler has a Batting Average of .433 and Alex an Earned Runs on Average of 4.11. Both of these two stars will be great for IU in the near future.
