All students in Abby Gray’s Spanish class anxiously await the arrival of Waffle Day. We are happy to report that the day everyone has been waiting for is here: Waffle Day.
On waffle day, students eat delicious homemade waffles with toppings that they have contributed. This is a wonderful tradition at South that has occured for almost 3 years now.
Waffle day itself originated from “one of those obscure, international holidays,” said Gray.
A student suggested that the class celebrate International Waffle Day and then it became a tradition. The first Waffle Day at South was very close to the actual International Waffle Day. Now, Waffle Day occurs multiple times per year.
“I like making waffles for people because it makes everyone happy. [Also,] it’s literally the only thing I can cook in large amounts,” said Gray.
Today, the smell of waffles wafts throughout the first floor. Even those who are unable to get waffles will surely enjoy the smell of them.
According to junior Eli Chafin, “[Waffle Day] gives my life meaning.”
