Local Bonus: DOC to Reduce the number of Parolees Sent to Monroe County
In the past, a large number of parolees without ties to Monroe County has been sent to the county, due to the large number of rehabilitation resources available in the area. However, the police force and the Indiana Department of Correction (DOC) made new verbal agreement, which states that people without ties to Monroe County will be sent elsewhere. Officials hope that the change in location of release will help to reduce the homeless population and crime rate in the area.
